As some of you may be aware of, several states were hit with major winter storm in late January 2009 dumping 2" of ice and 2-3 inches of snow. The ice proved to be the destructive factor. Kentucky was one of those states and the county we live in was one of the hardest hit in the area. We personally were without power for eight days while others in the state were without power for nearly three weeks. As a result of the power outages, we lost our entire stock of fish. We are currently working on restocking and hoping to be back up and running soon. We have included some pictures below that will help illustrate the beauty and the devastation of this winter storm. Our garage |

We had two trees that were pulled up from the roots by the weight of the ice. We were fortunate that the garage didn't sustain any major damage. |

Broken Tree |
|
For three days you could hear tree limbs cracking, breaking and falling under the weight of the ice. |

Downed Power Lines |
|
The weight of the ice proved to be too much for power lines, phone lines and tv lines. Even cell phone towers were put out of commission because there was no power to feed them. |

Cold temps |
|
It was so cold that we were able to keep our supplies in coolers outside. Temps reached as low as 9 degrees. That may not be cold for our Northern Friends, but it's cold for us here in Kentucky |

Clean up |
|
The great thing that comes from bad times is that everyone normally pulls together and our little town is no exception. People were coming together after it was over to help others clean up. |
